Senator Chris Kolker
Growing up, Chris quickly learned the value of hard work in rural Iowa, where he was raised by a John Deere factory worker and school secretary. From humble beginnings, Chris spend his summers helping out on the family farm, and can trace his vast respect for agricultural workers, small businesses, and, of course, Iowa Hawkeyes Football from his time on the plains. However, it wasn't until 1999 that Chris finally found his permanent home in Arapahoe County, where he has spent the last 24 years living, working, and raising two young daughters alongside his wife.
Chris has served in a number of diverse roles across his community, from teaching high school social studies to being a certified financial planner and small business owner. This unique perspective, along with his wife Tara's experience as a middle school counselor, has allowed Chris to focus on three priorities that can enhance the well-being of all Coloradans: supporting public education, expanding mental health services, and creating a smart, sensible budget that can best serve his constituents' needs.
On January 13th, 2021, Chris was officially sworn into the Colorado State Senate representing District 27. Chris was the first Democrat to ever hold this seat, which encompasses most of the city of Centennial, some of Englewood, Littleton, and Greenwood Village. As of January 2023, he represents District 16. Chris has eagerly prioritized shortages incurred in our education, transportation, and mental health systems to continue to protect and provide equal opportunity for all.
