Published: January 2025

Senator Chris Kolker has been named Chair of the Colorado Senate Education Committee for the 2025 legislative session, placing him at the helm of one of the most impactful policy areas in the state.

As Chair, Senator Kolker is responsible for leading the committee’s efforts to evaluate and advance legislation affecting K-12 and higher education across Colorado. His leadership comes at a pivotal time, as schools face complex challenges related to funding, student mental health, workforce readiness, and equitable access to quality education.

“With so much at stake for our students and educators, I’m honored to help lead Colorado’s education policy conversation,” Senator Kolker said. “We need to ensure that our schools are not just funded—but supported, responsive, and future-ready.”

Senator Kolker has long championed student-centered reforms, and his appointment signals a continued focus on data-driven policy and inclusive engagement with educators, families, and communities statewide.

As the 2025 session continues, the Education Committee will play a vital role in determining how Colorado supports its public schools and higher education institutions. We’ll be sharing regular updates as Senator Kolker advances key initiatives in this space.
